James Emery⁶ Mace (Abraham⁵, Benjamin⁴, Daniel³, Reuben², Robert¹)

He was born Bakersfield, Vermont, 14 April 1827.  He married(1) around, 1846, unknown.  He married(2), probably Auburn, Iowa, 24 September 1867, Mary Elizabeth Wickham.  She was born Iowa, 16 April 1847, and appears to have died before 1870.
    In 1870, James E. Mace appears to be a widower, residing with five children in Auburn, Fayette County, Iowa where he works as a carpenter.  By 1880 the family resides Dale, Minnesota, where he is a farmer.  He registered the purchase of 154.9 acres at New Ulm, Minnesota.  He resided, with his family, Vashon Island, Washington, as of 1900.

The photo is stated to be of Vashon Island in the early 20^th Century.
