James Edward/Edward J.⁷ Mance (James Emery⁶, Abraham⁵, Benjamin⁴, Daniel³, Reuben², Robert¹) was born possibly Dale, Minnesota, March 1875, and died Seattle, Washington, 3 January 1944.  He married, around 1896, Sara E. Lindley. She was born Iowa, December 1874.

As of 1900, he goes by Edward J. Mace and resides with his family in Wallula Precinct, Washington where he works as a day laborer.  By 1910, he has move to Vashon Island, Washington where he owns a saw mill.  In 1920, he is the proprietor of a garage.
